The Story Behind Lunenburg Knots

Hello! My name is Morgan, and I am the founder and maker behind Lunenburg Knots.

I am 30 years old and was born and raised in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, where I still proudly call home. I am a wife and a mother to three beautiful daughters who keep life busy, joyful, and full of adventure.

Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, I was working as a nurse in both hospitals and nursing homes. Nursing was a career that allowed me to care for others, build meaningful connections, and make a difference in people's lives every day. But five years ago, I stepped away from my nursing career to focus on raising my family.

Like many mothers who transition from working outside the home to dedicating themselves fully to their families, I found myself struggling with a question I never expected: "Who am I beyond being Mom?" While motherhood is the most rewarding role I have ever had, I found myself searching for a creative outlet and a piece of my identity that was uniquely my own.

Over the years, I explored different opportunities and hobbies, hoping to find something that truly sparked a passion. Then I discovered hand knitting.

What started as a simple hobby quickly became something much more. Creating beautiful, cozy blankets with my own hands brought me a sense of purpose, creativity, and fulfillment that I hadn't realized I was missing. Looking back, I probably should have seen it coming. I've always been an old soul at heart, and my family used to joke that one day they'd find me knitting in a rocking chair. Well, they've been proven half right—I'm knitting, just without the rocking chair.

My love for knitting soon became a family affair. My oldest daughter, Sophia, who is now nine years old, wanted to make her own blanket with her own choice of colours. Apparently, Mom wasn't knitting fast enough for her liking! So I taught her how to hand knit, and she quickly fell in love with it too. These days, I have to hide the yarn, and her closet is overflowing with blankets she has proudly made herself.

Lunenburg Knots was born from this journey—a journey of rediscovering myself, embracing creativity, and building something meaningful for my family. Every blanket I create is handmade with care, patience, and love. My hope is that each piece brings warmth, comfort, and a sense of home to the people who receive it.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me, my family, and this small business. Your purchase means more than you know. They allow me to continue doing what I love while creating special pieces for families near and far.

I hope to make a blanket for you someday.
